Hawaiki Nears Completion of Manufacturing Stage

Hawaiki Submarine Cable LP and TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. company, announced that new milestones have been reached in the manufacturing of Hawaiki, the 14,000 km transpacific cable system that will link Australia and New Zealand to the mainland United States, as well as Hawaii and American Samoa, with options to expand to several other South Pacific islands.

TE SubCom Introduces Submarine Cable Line Monitoring System

TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. company, has announced the availability of eLMS (enhanced line monitoring system) its new customizable solution capable of providing continuous tracking of fault conditions and cable performance. Significant enhancements to the overall line monitoring user experience will enable cable operators to detect changes in cable performance without having to interpret raw data, supplying straightforward results and consistently efficient transmission.

 

Infinera, Canalink Validate Infinite Capacity Engine Over Subsea Cable

Infinera, a provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, announced a successful field test with Canalink across its subsea cable. The test, conducted with the Infinera Infinite Capacity Engine (ICE4) and featuring Infinera’s fourth-generation photonic integrated circuit (PIC), demonstrated the capability to upgrade the cable capacity 13-fold.

NKT Names Its State-of-the Art Cable-Laying Vessel NKT Victoria

The new NKT cable-laying vessel was named NKT Victoria at a ceremony at the power cable plant in Karlskrona, Sweden, on May 4. The act was carried out by the regional Governor of Blekinge and marks the starting point of a new era of NKT turnkey high-voltage offshore cable system capabilities.

Smit Lamnalco Selects KVH Maritime Solution for its Offshore Vessels

KVH Industries, Inc., announced that major European maritime operator Smit Lamnalco finalized an agreement earlier this year to install KVH’s maritime solution on its offshore vessels. Following a successful field trial with KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband connectivity and TracPhone V3-IP satellite communications antenna system, the potential is for KVH to deliver and install its maritime solution on up to 100 Smit Lamnalco offshore vessels over the next few years, and 20 have already been delivered.
