Multi-discipline engineering outfit Balmoral offers a range of cable protection systems (CPS) for inter array and export cables for fixed and floating offshore wind installations.

Following its successful emergence from Chapter 11, leading subsea cable systems operator Seaborn, has announced the appointments of board members Pete Hayes and Don Shassian, as Interim CEO and Interim CFO, respectively.

RTI Connectivity Pte. Ltd. (RTI) and NEC Corporation (NEC) jointly announced the successful completion of the Japan-Guam-Australia North Cable System (JGA North).

In June 2018, a shipbuilding agreement was signed between Nexans and Ulstein on a large, DP3, cable laying vessel (CLV) to support markets such as the offshore wind industry. The construction project now enters a new phase, as the outfitting work at Ulstein Verft is about to start.

NEC Corporation announced that the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) Consortium is building a  high-performance submarine cable connecting China (Hong Kong SAR and  Guangdong Province), Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and  Vietnam.

NKT has finalized a turnkey offshore repair of the Baltic Cable connecting the power grids in Sweden and Germany after it was damaged due to external impact. The power cable system was restored within 29 days from the initial fault notification and is now back in full operation.

Cables specialist Nexans Norway AS has won a comprehensive design, engineering, production and installation contract to supply high-voltage transmission cables both offshore and on land for the Seagreen offshore wind farm under development off Scotland.

Ailes Marines in charge of the development, construction, installation and operation of the offshore wind farm in the bay of Saint-Brieuc, has awarded Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry with a contract worth of about €80 million to provide the submarine inter-array cable systems for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.  

Ocean Specialists, Inc. (OSI)’s Project Management Team, in partnership with Speedcast Communications, Inc has announced the successful completion of Phase 1 (Engineering) for a private communication cable system offshore East Africa. This marks an important milestone for the Speedcast communications project.

Prysmian Group has been awarded by ARIADNE INTERCONNECTION, a company fully owned by the transmission system operator for Greece’s power grid (IPTO), a contract, worth in total €270 million for submarine interconnections between the island of Crete and mainland Greece (Attica region). 

North Shields based manufacturer, Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd (SMD) recently handed over a purpose-built pre-lay plough to marine service providers Boskalis, for use at Ørsted’s offshore wind farm Hornsea Two.
