csa ocean sciences logoThe Angola Cable’s South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) was successfully completed with the 21 February 2018 cable landing in Fortaleza, Brazil, after traversing 6,200 kilometers across the Atlantic Ocean from Sangano, Angola. Angola Cables reports that SACS, once operational in the third quarter of 2018, will provide a communication capacity of at least 40 Tb/s—opening up the first direct link between Latin America and Africa in the southern hemisphere.

Installations for the first 11 vessels have begun, with plans for a total of up to 60 vessels throughout 2018.

Radio Holland Receives NavCom Order from Wijnne Barends

Radio Holland Netherlands has won a tender to supply Navigation/Communications packages for six newbuild vessels of Dutch shipping company Wijnne Barends (Delfzijl, The Netherlands). Wijnne Barends was established in 1855 and has a longstanding relationship with Radio Holland spanning around 50 years. The company currently has more than 30 vessels in its fleet.
