The winners of the Decom Awards 2021 were announced last week, in an online event which rounded off Decom North Sea’s (DNS) inaugural Decom Week.

RelyOn Nutec and Sparrows Group have launched the first of their global centers of excellence for crane and lifting operations training. The Qatar center will be the first in a series of significant investments by the two industry leaders, with an overarching aim to raise the competence standards in global lifting operations.

Delmar Systems, Inc. (‘Delmar’) has announced the acquisition of Vryhof, consisting of Deep Sea Mooring and Vryhof Anchors. The combined company, with its global footprint and enhanced asset portfolio, will continue as Delmar Systems and as Vryhof.

The new site will serve turnkey deliveries as part of the company’s green tech expansion, such as shore power and WindWings, as well as onboard repairs and upgrades. This marks a milestone for Yara Marine Technologies as they move into installation.

Vestdavit has bolstered its presence in the European market with the launch of a new subsidiary in the Netherlands that positions it for business growth in one of the world’s major maritime hubs.

Ørsted has appointed Richard Hunter Chief Operating Officer (COO) and new member of the Executive Committee of Ørsted as of 1 June 2021. Richard Hunter comes from a position as President of Rail Control Solutions and Wayside in Bombardier Transportation.

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement and the U.S. Department of Energy have entered into a cooperative agreement with Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station to support the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI).

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association (USCGAAA) has awarded A/Z Corporation of North Stonington the $18.2 million construction contract for the Maritime Center of Excellence (MCOE) to be built along the waterfront at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) campus in New London, CT. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for July 29.

Sparrows Group has become an authorized service center for Linde Hydraulics products in the USA, accelerating the business’ continued growth in the industrial and marine sectors.  

Okeanus Science & Technology, LLC (Okeanus), an established provider of oceanographic rental equipment, turnkey survey systems, and engineered oceanographic equipment, has expanded into an additional facility in Houma, LA adjacent to its existing rental and corporate headquarters.

Mercy Ships announced this week that the Global Mercy ™ has now completed deep water sea trials, one of the final milestones in the countdown towards the hospital ship’s delivery, equipping, maiden voyage and launch into service to sub-Saharan Africa in 2022.
