The Manta Ray prototype uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) built by performer Northrop Grumman completed full-scale, in-water testing off the coast of Southern California in February and March 2024. Testing demonstrated at-sea hydrodynamic performance, including submerged operations using all the vehicle’s modes of propulsion and steering: buoyancy, propellers, and control surfaces.

AML3D Limited (AML3D) is pleased to announce it has signed a contract with the Australian Government Defense Science and Technology Group (DSTG) to provide components for testing in marine applications. The A$0.24 million contract requires AML3D to 3D metal print two representative marine components using a Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB) alloy and high strength duplex steel alloy. Manufacturing of the test components will commence immediately at AML3D’s facility in Adelaide for delivery during FY24.
The German Navy, the BAAINBw, Thales and other F126 project partners, such as Damen Naval, prime contractor for the F126 project, inaugurated the “Extended Thales Testing Center”, a system testing and integration facility dedicated to the project. As Anduril moves to deliver an operationally relevant capability within a fraction of traditional defense timelines, early creation and testing of the first Ghost Shark has been critical for rapid learning and iteration.
On April 16–17, 2024, more than 200 industry representatives and government officials met at NATO Headquarters to address the most pressing challenges in the maritime domain.
