Huawei Marine to Deploy 100G Submarine Network in the Arctic

Huawei Marine will partner with Tele Greenland for the deployment of a 100G network along the Greenlandic West Coast as well as a capacity upgrade of the existing Greenland Connect which connects Greenland with Iceland/Europe and North America. When completed, the new system will create a record - the world’s most northern 100G submarine network.

ROG Completes the Modification and Recommissioning of Ndeavor

Rotterdam Offshore Group (ROG) based in the Waalhaven, Rotterdam, recently completed the conversion of the MPV (Multi Purpose Vessel) Ndeavor of Boskalis. The vessel was built in 2013 and is 99m in length with a beam of 30m, her gross tonnage is 7413T.

SK Telecom Selects Coriant 100G Solution for Island Link

Korea’s SK Telecom has selected a Coriant submarine solution to extend 100G connectivity to Ulleungdo Island. The Coriant solution, based on the industry-leading Coriant® hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform and Coriant® Transport Network Management System (TNMS), will enable SK Telecom to enhance delivery of mobile broadband services on Ulleungdo Island, which lies off the east coast of Korea.

Ooredoo Maldives and Huawei Marine have announced the inauguration of Ooredoo’s Nationwide Submarine Cable, an important investment by Ooredoo Maldives to strengthen its networks, as part of its commitment to power a Digital Maldives. VBMS to Handle Cable Installation for Dutch Offshore Wind Farm

VBMS, a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., has been awarded the Borssele Alpha contract in consortium with NKT Cables by TenneT for the installation of two export cables that will connect the Borssele offshore wind farms 1 and 2 to TenneT’s onshore grid in the Netherlands.

International Support for the North-East Passage Cable

Constructing a telecommunications cable between Europe and Asia via the North-East Passage would be politically and technologically feasible, says a report presented to Finland's Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner by Paavo Lipponen and Reijo Svento. If the project was carried out, the cable would significantly speed up telecommunications between Europe and Asia and respond to the increasing capacity needs. It would also benefit the national economies in Europe, Russia and Asia.

VBMS Shows New Method for Offshore Wind Export Cable Shore Landings

VBMS recently executed the first export cable shore landing for the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm utilizing its newly invented method for lowering the cable onto the seabed without the use of divers, wet riggers or support vessels. By using a remotely controlled progressive buoyancy release system, VBMS is able to increase safety and efficiency by eliminating time-consuming interfaces.
