Nor-Shipping Launches Opening Oceans in Denmark in 2018

Nor-Shipping is making its first move outside Norway, with a new initiative to help maritime and ocean industry players realise the almost limitless business potential of the ocean space. Nor-Shipping’s Opening Oceans Conference, taking place in Copenhagen from 2-3 May 2018, will bring businesses together to illustrate and discuss key opportunities, equip delegates with the tools to tackle them, and facilitate fresh collaborations.

Fugro Wins Environmental Leadership Award

Fugro has been honored with an Environmental Leadership Award from The Maritime Alliance, a California-based non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable, science-based ocean and water industries. The recognition was received in San Diego during the organisation’s BlueTech Week, an international gathering of over 485 marine professionals from academia, government, and industry.

Crowley Shipping Announces Management Team

Crowley Maritime Corp. announces it has appointed four industry veterans to oversee the consolidated lines of business under the recently formed Crowley Shipping group, which provides petroleum and chemical transportation, commercial ship management, offshore energy support, and ship assist and tanker escort services in the U.S. and international markets.

MacGregor Acquires Rapp Marine Group

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) in order to strengthen its offering for the fishery and research vessel segment. MacGregor's existing portfolio includes already various deck handling equipment, such as cranes and booms, but with RMG, MacGregor is able to offer complete solutions with advanced winches and related control systems. The enterprise value of the acquisition was approximately EUR 16 million.

Greensea Appoints New Robotics Engineer

Greensea, creator of OPENSEA™, the universal marine industry operating platform, has recently announced the appointment of Matthew Parrilla as Robotics Engineer. Prior to joining Greensea, Matthew was a lead developer of a customer facing application at Cox Automotive, Inc. He earned a B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Maryland, worked as a data visualization artist, co-founded a startup and spends his time backcountry skiing whenever possible.
