After two days of doing business, networking, celebrating innovation, and making new connections and collaborations, the 14th edition of Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2021 (OEEC) can look back at a fruitful and inspiring event. The event brought together over 350 exhibitors and 5.000 visitors at the Home of Energy Transition in the RAI Amsterdam. Next year Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference takes place on November 29-30, 2022.

Scottish firm FoundOcean has announced today that it has joined Venterra Group – a new wind energy services company, bringing together the expertise of three trusted names in offshore energy.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has launched the Net-Zero Standard as the world’s only framework and leading standard for aligning corporate net-zero targets with climate science. As part of the launch, Ørsted’s 2040 net-zero full value chain decarbonization target has now been validated as science-based.

In the US, hydropower contributes 46% to the energy generated from renewable sources. It is a significant contribution given the fact that there are only a few sources of renewable energy, like geothermal, wind, and solar. However, we have to look at the bigger picture and see that the total contribution of renewable energy only accounts for 10%.

The Estonian energy company Elenger has taken delivery of the first of Damen’s new class of Liquified Gas Carrier (LGC) 6000 LNG bunkering vessels. Named Optimus, the 100-meter vessel will carry up to 6,000m³ of LNG in two type-C tanks at -163° C. The vessel was delivered in the port of Rotterdam and will be the first LNG bunkering vessel in the Gulf of Finland, serving both LNG powered vessels and smaller shoreside customers. Its introduction is expected to accelerate the wider adoption of LNG as a cleaner alternative fuel in the Baltic Sea by providing a mobile and efficient ship-to-ship distribution service for the first time.

QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with ExxonMobil Canada to farm into an exploration license offshore the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy held a launch ceremony on October 25, with representatives from state and local government authorities and wind industry partners in Virginia for what will be the first offshore wind turbine blade facility in the United States. This is also the first commitment by a global offshore wind turbine manufacturer in a U.S.-based supply chain. This milestone solidifies Siemens Gamesa’s presence in the U.S. offshore wind market and position as the world’s leading offshore wind turbine manufacturer.

ADC Energy, a specialist provider of integrated rig inspections, has completed a project with a major rig owner which identified that an upgrade to Dynamically Positioned (DP) rigs power systems can reduce carbon emissions by almost 5,000 tonnes per year.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, has opened the company’s UK Offshore Wind Hub in Aberdeen. The Hub will be part of the Company’s existing offshore operations Centre in Aberdeen. The Hub will enable the transition of staff from oil and gas to offshore wind as that part of the Company’s UK business grows. It will thus leverage the offshore expertise that TotalEnergies’ Aberdeen operations have built over the last 50 years.
