Telenor Maritime, the global maritime mobile operator, announces an expansion of the communications services deploying our connectivity platform with Premium Wi-Fi, Ka VSAT and mobile broadband backhaul for DFDS, one of our very first and long-standing partners. The technology will vastly enhance the customer experience.

SES announced that Telenor Maritime has signed a multi-year agreement to provide high-speed broadband access to Silversea’s luxurious cruise ships via SES Networks’ Maritime+ solution. Telenor Maritime will be using SES Networks’ fully-managed maritime solution to offer capacity of up to 150Mb/s to provide passengers on Silversea’s ultra-luxury cruise ships a true broadband experience at sea.

SES announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with leading Indonesian satellite communications provider Primacom (PT Primacom Interbuana). Primacom will use SES Networks’ Maritime+ service to deliver the highest levels of reliable high-speed broadband connectivity to vessels operating in Asia-Pacific region.

International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) has issued its much-awaited Recommendation No. 17 titled: Submarine Cable Operations in Deep Seabed Mining Concessions Designated by the International Seabed Authority. The Recommendation* is now publicly available upon request via: secretary@iscpc.org.

Ocean Specialists, Inc. (OSI) announces that it has completed its full scope of program work related to the ATISA submarine cable project. OSI has been engaged with DOCOMO PACIFIC since the earliest days of the project, helping shape the commercial and technical foundations of the program, with a continuing technical management role that extended through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning. The ATISA network was installed by NEC.

M-Tech Offshore A/S, is a Danish joint venture company equally owned by NT Offshore A/S and Maritech International LTD, owning and operating the CLV SIA, an efficient handy-sized DP-2 cable laying vessel, which is configured for worldwide inter-array and subsea power cable installations and maintenance, with additional facilities on-board to accommodate for installation of smaller subsea cables, including fibre-optics.

MarineFields and Inmarsat have signed an MOU to partner in investigating how sea traffic management and satellite connectivity can make port calls more efficient for all stakeholders through improved information sharing, situational awareness, optimized processes, and collaborative decision making.

Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) has chosen Cobham SATCOM VSAT and Satellite TV (TVRO) antennas in addition to radio communication equipment for installation on six new Offshore Support Vessels (OSV). CBO’s state-of-the-art new OSVs have been commissioned to fulfil development contracts offshore Brazil and will be entering service during 2017 and 2018.

The Global Marine Group (GMG), a market leader in offshore engineering, is reporting a successful first five months of 2017 and what they expect will be a strong outlook for the rest of the year. All key assets from the GMG fleet are currently mobilized, either supporting maintenance zone agreements around the world, or on installation, maintenance or repair contracts.

Docomo Pacific announced the start of the marine lay for its ATISA submarine fiber-optic cable system connecting Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota in the Mariana Islands.

TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. company, announced that it has been awarded the South Pacific Marine Maintenance Agreement (SPMMA), a five-year service agreement between SubCom and 14 cable operators in the region. Under terms of the agreement, which took effect March 10, 2017, SubCom will maintain more than 51,000 km of cable that comprise 19 disparate telecommunications and power cable systems.
