Pipeline and Pigging Highlighted at Subsea UK Springboard Event

The technology being developed to make the inspection and integrity of subsea pipelines and umbilicals more efficient will be highlighted at Subsea UK’s Subsea Springboard event this month.

Companies are being invited to pitch their innovative systems and technologies before a panel of operators including BP, Shell, CNOOC International, Apache, Chrysaor and Chevron on Tuesday, 26 March.

Under the two themes - inspection and integrity of subsea pipeline and riser systems; and umbilical integrity, inspection and life extension – the selected firms will present their solutions for structural integrity and flow assurance; blockages, cleaning and clearances; fluid integrity and leak detection; and service failures options and solutions.

Each business will have the opportunity to present for seven-minutes to the E&P companies and highlight technologies, processes and software which have the potential to address the immediate and future needs of the subsea sector.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “Our Subsea Springboard events give companies a unique opportunity to get in front of decision makers and highlight the work being done to develop innovative technology. The themes for our Springboard dates come directly from industry feedback focusing on issues they are experiencing.

“This time we will be zoning in on the various challenges which pipeline and umbilical maintenance campaigns can present. These crucial operations provide a wide range of opportunities for companies to develop new ways of working to be more efficient. For example, one recurring issue we hear being highlighted, is the number of pipelines which cannot be pigged due to the age and design of the pipeline, or size of the pig.

“I look forward to finding out more about the disruptive technologies and systems our member companies are developing to improve these and other relative operations.”
