The Value of Seabed Mapping - Seabed 2030 Survey

As a core partner of the Seabed 2030 Project, the World Ocean Council (WOC) encourages ocean industry participation in the Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project.

WOC Logo The WOC especially invites the private sector to contribute to the Seabed 2030 online survey on the environmental, social and economic value of mapping the entire world’s ocean floor by 2030. To contribute to the survey, click here.

Seabed 2030 is building a global community of ocean mappers, hydrographers, scientists, industry and the public to discover and publish all existing bathymetric data. Seabed 2030 also aims to inform and inspire new expeditions to “map the gaps” in seafloor knowledge and provide the world with a definitive map of ocean bathymetry.

As part of the broader WOC SMART Ocean – SMART Industries program, the WOC continues to engage the ocean business community to collect and share data of all kinds, including seabed data. Companies interested in contributing bathymetric data to Seabed 2030 are encouraged to contact the WOC at info@oceancouncil.org.

The WOC 2019 Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) included a session on ”Seabed 2030: Accelerating Ocean Industry Leadership on Global Seafloor Mapping”. The WOC SOS is the annual, global, high-level, multi-sectoral business and investment community gathering on ocean sustainable development (click here).
