EU Ocean Observation System Launches Online Survey 2020

The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is a network of organizations supported by the EU’s integrated maritime policy. These organizations work together to observe the sea, process the data according to international standards and make that information freely available as interoperable data layers and data products.

EMODnet is a long-term marine data initiative. Developed through a step-wise approach, it is now gearing up for its next phase where access to all thematic data and data products will be centralized on the EMODnet Central Portal for Chemistry, Physics, Bathymetry, Human Activities, Biology, Seabed Habitats and Geology, including the expansion of the data catalogue.

As Ocean Industry Representatives your feedback is essential for EMODnet’s continual development in its next phase where all data and data products will be made findable, visible and downloadable through the central portal. Individual thematic groups will ensure that their application programming interfaces are compliant and participate in the management of content of the central portal.

The WOC SMART Ocean-SMART Industries Program works to advance the involvement of ocean business in collecting and sharing data that can contribute to EMODnet, and other similar programs, e.g. by using commercial vessels to host or deploy instruments.
