Verlume Shortlisted in Two Categories at Scottish Renewables Net-Zero Energy Transition Awards
Verlume, a specialist in intelligent energy management and energy storage, has been shortlisted in both the Technology & Business Innovation and Green Business Growth categories at the upcoming Scottish Renewables Net-Zero Energy Transition Awards.
Taking place in Aberdeen on August 25th, the black-tie awards will see 34 individuals, companies and projects that are delivering the energy transition compete to scoop prizes in eight categories across the industry.
In the Technology & Business Innovation category, Verlume has been recognised for Halo, its seabed battery energy storage system. Halo has been specifically designed for the harsh underwater environment, reducing operational emissions and facilitating the use of renewable energy by providing a reliable, uninterrupted power supply for a range of applications. Most recently, Halo won the Innovation & Technology Award at the Global Underwater Hub Awards in February 2022.
For the Green Business Growth category, the judges recognized the company’s aspirations to be a leader across the energy landscape and its ambitious international renewables growth plans.
Claire Mack, chief executive of Scottish Renewables, said: “I am absolutely thrilled by the number and quality of nominations we have received for this new award ceremony. Our judges struggled to pick the shortlist from the 85 nominations we received, let alone the winners.
“Delivering the energy transition projects we need to reduce our carbon emissions, re-skill and re-shape our workforce and reach our climate targets is a huge task, but one that offers enormous economic and environmental benefits. Our shortlist represents the innovation, skills and engineering know-how of Scotland’s diverse supplier network that is tackling this challenge head on.”
Richard Knox, managing director of Verlume, added: “We have been committed to the energy transition for almost a decade, at the forefront of low carbon technology innovation since formation in 2013. Being shortlisted for these two awards showcases Verlume’s drive to positively contribute to climate goals, as well as maximizing the economic impact related to energy transition projects.
“It is fantastic that the ceremony will be hosted in Aberdeen, highlighting the significant role that North East businesses will play in our transition net zero. We are very much looking forward to it.”
