Trelleborg Celebrates Over 20 years of Elastopipe Installed Offshore

Trelleborg is looking forward to showcasing its advanced passive fire solutions at ADIPEC 2019. It will also be celebrating over 20 years of ElastopipeTM being installed offshore.

At ADIPEC 2019, Trelleborg’s offshore operation will proudly be showcasing ElastopipeTM, it’s unrivalled fire-resistant, flexible piping system. This corrosion-free, explosion, impact and jet fire resistant flexible piping system is key to protection and safety on offshore platforms. Having been utilized on offshore platforms for over 20 years, with quick and easy installation, it has become a world-renowned solution for reliable piping systems in the industry.

Ole Bjørn Rasmussen, Sales Manager with Trelleborg’s offshore operation, says: “The ElastopipeTM system can be used across several key applications including deluge and sprinkler systems, utility and drain water systems, as well as nitrogen distribution systems. Installation requires no hot work and once fitted, it is virtually maintenance free.”

Safety is a crucial aspect to operations in demanding offshore environments. Trelleborg’s offshore operation will showcase an extensive selection of passive fire protection solutions including VikodeckTM and FirenutTM. These products have been carefully designed using Trelleborg’s Firestop™, a certified rubber-based material with the ability to protect structures from exceeding critical temperature limits.

VikodeckTM is made from Trelleborg’s FirestopTM material and is designed to offer surface protection against blast, jet and pool fire in harsh offshore oil and gas environments. It provides excellent corrosion protection and anti-fatigue damping support for the comfort and safety of employees.

FirenutTM is a jet fire protection for bolted connections to extend service life in the event of a fire. It is tailor-made to accommodate almost any size of bolt and resists both jet fire and pool fire. A rigid and tough design means that FirenutTM has extremely good resistance to mechanical damage when installed.

Morten Kristensen, Business Group Director with Trelleborg’s offshore operation, says: “Trelleborg focuses on being flexible to support the ever-evolving offshore industry. There is currently a great emphasis on offshore safety in the media. As this is becoming more widespread, the global need for fire and corrosion resistant materials is increasing.”

ADIPEC is recognized by industry professionals as the Middle East’s leading offshore and marine event that regularly attracts more than 10,000 delegates and over 2,000 exhibitors. The multiple conferences running parallel will be heavily focused on the newly developed agenda “Oil & Gas 4.0”. This was developed by both ADNOC and ADIPEC to embrace modern opportunities enabled by the 4th industrial revolution.
