Driving the global energy revolution, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and CrossWind have executed the contract to deliver the turbines for the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind park. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the world’s installed offshore wind capacity rose by 15% in 2020, reaching 31.9 gigawatts (GW) at year-end, from 27.7 GW at the end of 2019, Rystad Energy estimates. China was the main contributor in 2020, accounting for 39% of last year’s additions, followed by the Netherlands (18%) and the UK (17%).
The fifth and final MaRINET2 call results have been announced, bringing the project's total budget for free lab, tank and open-sea testing to €5 million. In all, MaRINET2 has provided more than 600 weeks of testing and support to over 170 technology developers from almost 20 European countries, as well as Australia, Canada, Brazil and the US.
