Prysmian Group, a world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, announces the finalisation of the contract agreement, worth €125 million, with Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), who are responsible for the transmission power grid in Greece, for a submarine power cable connection between the island of Crete and the Peloponnese region of the Greek mainland.

SubCom and the Manatua Consortium announced the contract is in force for the supply and installation of the Manatua submarine cable system.

In the latest edition of Westwood’s Subsea Cable Tracker H1 report, global subsea cable demand is forecast to grow at a 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), totaling 46,470 km over the 2018-2022 period. This represents a 71% growth compared to the 2013-2017 period.
