The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is pleased to announce the availability of two new studies on offshore wind energy in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Applied Research Associates, Inc, and CSS, Inc. collaborated on these studies, funded through an interagency agreement between NREL and BOEM.

Hy2gen USA Inc., the US subsidiary of global green hydrogen producer Hy2gen, and offshore wind energy developer, Ocean Connect Energy Inc. (OCE), have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the mutual investigation of the potential to power renewable hydrogen production from offshore wind. The MoU formalizes a collaboration between the two companies to identify, evaluate, and develop favorable locations to power Hy2gen’s renewable hydrogen and e-fuel production from the gigawatt-scale offshore wind energy generation that OCE develops in the USA and worldwide.
Principle Power and Aker Solutions (“FloatHOME” consortium) have been chosen as a winner for the second phase of the US Floating Offshore Wind Readiness (FLOWIN) Prize by the US Department of Energy (DOE). The award consists of a $450,000 cash prize and $100,000 in technical assistance from the DOE National Labs. Prize money is being used to advance WindFloat® manufacturing, supply chain, and deployment plans in the US market.
ABL, an energy and marine consultancy, is working in a consortium with the world leading vessel owner and operator, Bibby Marine, and the UK’s leading technology innovation and research center for offshore renewable energy, the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, to provide technical and operational consultancy for the development of zero-emission offshore charging to power wind farm service vessels.
Odfjell Technology, a leading provider of drilling and well services, has secured an important contract with COSL Drilling Europe AS. The fixed part of the contract, valued at approximately 160 million NOK, encompasses Tubular Running Services has a duration of three years, with the option for two additional one-year periods.
Ampelmann, a Dutch offshore access provider, has signed a new contract for two E1000 systems to work in Taiwan onboard two multipurpose support vessels to provide accommodation and walk to work services for end client Vestas Taiwan. The E1000 systems have been signed to assist in turbine commissioning. This new contract reaffirms Ampelmann’s position in helping to grow the offshore wind market in Taiwan.
Cadeler A/S (Cadeler) has secured vessel reservation agreements with both MFW Bałtyk II Sp. z.o.o. and MFW Bałtyk III Sp. z.o.o., each a joint venture project owned 50% by Equinor and 50% by Polenergia, marking the first contract between the parties. The aggregate potential value of the contracts to be negotiated during the pendency of the vessel reservation agreements is anticipated to fall within the range of EUR 110–130 million. Operations are scheduled to commence in 2027.
Worley, a global professional services company of energy, chemicals, and resources experts, has been selected to design and evaluate carbon dioxide (CO2) gathering, handling and sequestration facilities for the Bayou Bend CCS LLC (Bayou Bend) joint venture located along the Gulf Coast in Southeast Texas. The Bayou Bend project includes a CO2 storage footprint of nearly 140,000 acres of pore space.
