Following the signing of the contract between OCCAR and Naviris (a Fincantieri and Naval Group joint venture) for the Mid-Life Upgrade of the four Horizon-class units in service with the Italian and French navies, a sub-contract was signed in August 2023 between SIGEN (a consortium between Elettronica and Thales) and Naviris for the modernization of the Electronic Warfare (EW) system.

Sensor solution provider HENSOLDT is further developing its "Kalaetron Attack" jamming system for use on board naval vessels. The fully digital system has proven to be very effective in neutralizing air defense radars in several test campaigns. Now HENSOLDT is using the knowledge gained from land and airborne tests to develop a capability for the electronic protection of naval vessels.

Bollinger Shipyards LLC (“Bollinger”) has delivered the USCGC Melvin Bell to the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West, Florida. This is the 181st vessel Bollinger has delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard over a 35-year period and the 55th Fast Response Cutter (“FRC”) delivered under the current program.
