Forum Sells ROV’s to Russia and Norway

Forum Subsea Technologies a subsidiary of Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. has announced a strong start to the year with three recent sales awards in Russia and Norway. The deals will see the firm supplying four of its Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to academia and the aquaculture industry.

These wins are in line with the company’s continued growth strategy to diversify into new ROV markets across the globe and complement its work in the oil and gas and renewables sectors.

The first sale is to an academic research facility in Russia. Awarded through Forum’s local distributor in the region - DiveTechnoService LLC - the St Petersburg-based academic institution has selected one of the company’s Mojave ROVs to support its oceanography research work. It is one of the subsea industry’s most powerful observation vehicles of its size, and its compact design and lightweight construction allow for rapid set up and deployment suited to the subsea environment.

Forum Mohican ROVThe other new contracts are repeat business with two Norwegian aquaculture companies. Forum successfully sold one Mojave observation vehicle and two Mohican inspection class ROVs through its local distributer, Innova AS. The vehicles will be used for the inspection and maintenance of commercial fish farming operations in Norway. The Mohican ROVs were chosen for the system’s enhanced propulsion, as they are best suited to manoeuvring in the harsh and unpredictable conditions of the region.

Kevin Taylor VP of Subsea commented: “These three important deals reaffirm Forum’s commitment to remaining a dominant force in the ROV market as we continue to strengthen our position in industries out with the oil and gas market across the world.

“During the prolonged downturn in the subsea market, we have adapted our business plan and explored new markets for our ROVs. We are now seeing this come to fruition with four ROVs being purchased in the aquaculture market for inspection and repair work and also for academic research in Russia.

“These purchases are testament to the reputation Forum has for manufacturing first-class ROVs and associated products suited to the subsea landscapes found in the oil and gas, renewables, and aquaculture sectors, and for supporting geographic subsea research programmes across the globe.”
