Immersible connectors have to meet specific mechanical and chemical constraints. SOURIAU has been active in this market for a very long time with connectors for submarines, oceanography, marine renewable energies and the oil industry and is now introducing a range of harnesses and connectors designed for shallow water immersible equipment.

A crucial meeting of regional telecommunications leaders has approved the final stages of planning for the installation of the Manatua – One Polynesia Cable. The new optical fiber submarine cable will span the South Pacific transforming speed, capacity, resilience and affordability. The six landings will be in Tahiti and Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the Cook Islands, Apia, Samoa and Niue. It is the first fiber connectivity to Niue and the Cook Islands.

On 15 October 2019, Nexans hosted the grand block ceremony for their new cable installation vessel, the ‘Nexans Aurora’. The vessel will be completed at Ulstein Verft in Norway.
