Technologic Systems announces Conformal Coating Option for Select Products

Technologic Systems announced that it would begin to offer a conformal coating option for some of its single board computers, system on modules, and baseboards.

Conformal coating is a protective coating 25-75 µm thick that ‘conforms’ to the circuit board topology. It provides additional protection for electronic circuits from harsh environments that may contain high humidity and varying temperatures. Additionally, the conformal coating creates a barrier to airborne contaminants from the operating environment, such as salt spray, thus inhibiting corrosion.

“We are very excited about this announcement. We know our customers already install our embedded systems in harsh manufacturing environments, outdoor deployments, and demanding marine settings”, said Technologic Systems’ President Robert Miller. “Adding conformal coating just enhances our already rugged portfolio and provides more protection for our customers.”

Technologic Systems will be using HumiSeal® 1A33, which is a single component, polyurethane conformal coating. HumiSeal® 1A33 contains no free isocyanates and fluoresces under UV light for inspection purposes. HumiSeal® 1A33 coating is IPC-A610F qualified, IPC-CC-830B, J-STD-001E, ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007, and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EC compliant and recognized under UL File Number E105698.

Technologic Systems is able to begin offering this value added service by working with a partner in Phoenix, AZ, USA, that specializes in the application of conformal coating on electronics. Additionally, Technologic Systems has trained the in-house repair team in the handling and re-application of this material to ensure even our repair processes can offer this protection. All units shipped from Technologic Systems with the conformal coating are tested through our standard production processes, just like the standard product, and will include the same warranty as non-conformal coating products.
