McDermott Launches First Digital Innovation Center in India

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE:MDR), a global leader in providing integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for upstream offshore oil and gas fields worldwide, announces the launch of its First Digital Innovation Center in Pune, India.

McDermott’s key focus is to develop and utilize innovative digital solutions to lead the transformation in offshore oil and gas projects. Also, the facility will encourage high technology employment opportunities in the local area.

The inauguration ceremony, hosted by McDermott Vice President, Chief Information & Digital Officer Akash Khurana, was held today in Pune. The Digital Innovation Center was inaugurated by Shri. Girish Bapat, Cabinet Minister for Food & Civil Supplies and the Guardian Minister for Pune; Shri. Vijay Shivtare, Minister of State for Water Resources & Water Conservation; and Ms. Snehalata B. Kolhe, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra. The inaugural ceremony was also graced by Ms. Muktatai Tilak, Mayor of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Mr. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor, Pune University.

The Digital Innovation Center will serve as a technology epicenter to support McDermott’s India plans for growth as well as support McDermott’s digital initiatives globally. The technology innovations will be primarily used to develop external solutions for the oil and gas market.

“This facility has been developed as an expansion to McDermott’s operations in India,” said Khurana. “The aim of the center is to cater to our current and prospective clients with the best possible digital technology in the EPCI space of offshore facilities and subsea fields.”

The Digital Innovation Center will focus on three main areas - Digital Innovation Delivery, Digital Product Management and the Digital Experience. The center is expected to further supplement the organization and the clients to give a more real-life and 3D view of the projects that will be developed in the labs.

The Digital Innovation Center, spread across 5,400 sq. ft. space, is expected to grow in the coming years and will house a highly-collaborative, cross-functional team equipped with world-class technology and services to enhance the customer experience.
