Chesapeake Technology Offers a Dongle Free License SonarWiz Option

Chesapeake Technology Inc. (CTI) announces the immediate availability of a SonarWiz license that does not require the use of a dongle. In what may be an industry first, users now have the option to buy secure SonarWiz post-processing licenses with an electronic code instantly on payment or purchase order.

John Gann, VP of Software Development, said “these new electronic-only licenses effectively give users a faster and more convenient way to get up and running, while eliminating the risk of missing or lost dongles.” Although they are technically “node-locked” to a specific PC, the license can be moved from one PC to another in seconds. This is as easy as clicking “deactivate” on one PC and “activate” on another after entering the ID number and Activation key.

DFL requires an internet connection the first time it is used to confirm the license ID and at various time intervals after that. The user controls the license via the CTI License Manager utility included with SonarWiz 7.1 and later. CTI can also remotely activate licenses as needed. This means even if a PC is lost, stolen or damaged, an email or call can get you running again in minutes.

The electronic license eliminates the risk of ownership, including insuring and replacing lost, damaged or stolen dongles. It also avoids the downtime if a dongle is left on board or in the office when you were planning to work at home.
