Blue Innovation Symposium Announces Conference Theme

The Blue Innovation Symposium, New England’s premier event for showcasing developments in the marine technology sector, has announced the theme of its fifth edition, Sensors and the Next Wave of Data. Delegates and sponsors will connect in Newport RI, from January 14-16, 2020, to discuss and set in motion a working agenda for the Blue Economy’s coming decade.

By profiling breakthrough companies and their exciting technologies, the Blue Innovation Symposium gives startups the unique opportunity to network with ocean industry leaders, government officials and key marine tech associations. The last Blue Innovation Symposium welcomed more than 250 attendees, 36 sponsors, key community members, and representatives from the US Navy, the US Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), and Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).

“Since its inception in 2015, the Blue Innovation Symposium has always been an event organized by the blue tech community, for the blue tech community,” according to Tobias Stapleton, Dean of Graduate Studies at Salve Regina University, and one of the event’s founders. “Our goal remains to facilitate a ‘meeting of minds’ and offer participants an ‘Access All Areas’ pass to this fertile ground for business development and networking,” Stapleton added.

The 2020 event is being organized by Salve Regina University, The Consulate General of Canada in Boston, and, for the first time, TSC Strategic, an ocean industries marketing and media agency, whose portfolio of publications include Ocean News & Technology (ON&T).

“ON&T reported on the Blue Innovation Symposium back in 2018 and we were impressed by the energy and dynamism of all that participated,” said Greg Leatherman, Editor of ON&T. “We are thrilled to be involved again, and this time will play a more significant role in supporting the growth of the event and shining a light on some of the remarkable breakthroughs in the blue tech space,” Leatherman added.
