OSIL’s USV Profiling Winches in Demand

OSIL’s USV Profiling Winches in Demand

Marine engineering experts Ocean Scientific International Ltd (OSIL) are excited to report high levels of international demand for their unique USV profiling winches.

The compact and programmable winches are designed to equip USV systems with the ability to safely deploy and recover instrumentation at specified depths during an operation, enabling surveys to be carried out in places that are too high risk or inaccessible for crewed vessels.

The winches are easily integrated into most USV control systems, with status notifications for docking, zero position and payout readings & can accommodate a wide variety of ropes/cables and slipring combinations, with 50kg line pull at the first layer and a 500m drum capacity (based on 3mm dyneema).

The automated winches have recently been successfully proven in the field in Arctic conditions, in a joint project between Maritime Robotics and UiT – The Arctic University of Norway.
