CSA Ocean Sciences Expands Environmental Data and Geospatial Services (EDGS)

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), an international marine environmental consulting and survey company, has announced the appointment of two key hires to the firm’s rapidly expanding Environmental Data and Geospatial Services (EDGS) team—Vanessa Ward joins CSA from Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst, and Cairra Martin takes up the post of GIS Developer, having previously worked at Trimble Inc., a California-based software and technology services company.

The announcement comes at a busy time for the EDGS team, in a year that CSA has reinforced efforts to provide the ocean industries with an industry-leading suite of turnkey solutions for centralizing, accessing, visualizing, and sharing environmental data and information—including web-based mapping, videospatial services, geospatial analysis, and shoreline characterization—for a range of marine projects in the U.S. and abroad, particularly those serving the offshore energy and renewables sectors.

These services provide a foundation for secure communication and knowledge transfer throughout the life span of a project or development anywhere in the world, and so help developers leverage a data-rich resource for guiding infrastructure planning, setting procedures and workflows, assisting with key decision making, or simply presenting complex data sets and insights.

“We are delighted to welcome Vanessa and Cairra to the CSA family at an exciting time for our EDGS team as we continue to invest in new ways and means to help provide our clients with the leading technology, services, and robust scientific analysis to integrate environmental and geospatial data into their workstream,” said Dr. Shane Abeare, Manager, Environmental Data and Geospatial Services.

“Vanessa and Cairra both bring extensive experience of working with environmental regulations and policy, data verification, and quality assurance to the EDGS team, and I am confident that their expertise in delivering cross-sector marine geospatial analyses in the US and overseas will further enhance CSA’s capacity to deliver best-in-class multidisciplinary marine environmental consultancy and surveys across the globe.”

Both Vanessa and Cairra are based out of CSA’s U.S. headquarters in Stuart, Florida.
