Green Marine Expand Operations with New Location and Vessel Investment

Specialists in renewable energy support services, Green Marine has received funding from Royal Bank of Scotland and Lombard to support extensive growth plans; which includes the purchase and renovation of the former Stromness police station and ‘Green Storm’; the latest addition to its fleet of vessels.

The 1,639 sq. ft premises give Green Marine space to expand operations and grow its team by an anticipated five members of staff as it increases operations across the UK and Europe.

The firm is well established within the energy sector and has built up a strong reputation in the installation and maintenance of tidal and wind energy facilities. The purchase of Green Storm will primarily service clients with offshore installations ensuring the safe transportation of personnel and cargo.

ONT GreenMarineEstablished in 2012 by ex-fisherman, Jason Schofield, the firm has grown to employ more than 20 staff in Scotland and currently works with more than 35 clients in the renewables sector.

Jason Schofield said: “Across the world, marine forms an important piece of the energy puzzle, and the north east of Scotland acts as a hub of experience for the sector. The funding provided has allowed us to significantly invest in our operations.

“Moving to new offices in the former police station gives us continued access to an experienced talent pool, more space, and, most importantly, allows us to keep our headquarters on Orkney. The purchase of the vessel demonstrates our continued investment in providing clients with first-class services.

“Royal Bank of Scotland and Lombard have been instrumental in helping us realize our ambitions and provided us with continued support throughout our growth.”

The funding was supported by Margaret Keenan, Relationship Manager for Royal Bank of Scotland, and Nathan Sikorski, Business Development Director at Lombard.

Margaret Keenan said: “Green Marine is at the center of a growing industry within the Northern Isles and it’s positive to see its growth ambitions come to life with its new premises and vessel purchase. As the firm continues to grow and support the budding economy of Orkney through job creation and continued investment, we wish the Green Marine team the best of luck for the future.”

Nathan Sikorski said: “It has been a pleasure to get to know Jason and Green Marine over the years, understand their growth plans, and provide help where possible. Their continued investment in the fleet shows confidence and commitment to this sector, and I look forward to following Green Marine as they embark on their next venture.”
