Artelia Group Acquiring Open Ocean

The Open Ocean team is joining the Artelia Group, a leading European engineering firm specialising in building construction, infrastructure, water, industry and the environment.

Open Ocean is composed of a team of oceanographers with a passion for digital technology. In 2015 it launched a web platform, called Metocean Analytics, which provides an analysis of marine conditions anywhere in the world in the space of just a few minutes. This innovative solution perfectly meets the increasing demand for productivity and profitability on today’s ever more complex and ambitious offshore projects.

The start-up caught the attention of the Artelia Group, whose track record of projects spanning more than fifty years has placed it among the world’s top ten maritime engineering firms. Moreover, Open Ocean’s clients include thirty of the leading players in the fields of marine renewable energy and maritime works.

Renaud Laborbe, Executive Chairman and founder of Open Ocean, says: “For Open Ocean, joining Artelia will enable us to supplement our range of services by providing our clients with all the technical and project management expertise they need, with the best possible quality guarantee.”

According to the Artelia Group’s Expertise, Innovation & Digital Solutions Director, Francois-Xavier Huard: “For Artelia, which strives constantly to accompany its clients on their path to digital transformation, the key benefit will lie in being able to offer ever more efficient ways of interacting, from online platform to physical scale model laboratory, in line with the requirements of each project stage. By harnessing the capabilities of digital technologies and Big Data, human expertise and scientific know-how, Artelia aims to go to even greater lengths to help its clients make the best possible use of their data.
