In 2017, Barzan Holdings QSTP-LLC and KONGSBERG established a new company for technology development programs. The company, BK Systems, has its main office in Qatar Science & Technology Park, and KONGSBERG is holding the CEO position. The park is an innovation hub for leading international industry and universities. The MOU signed today in Doha, clarifies the two companies’ joint efforts within digitalization in the maritime domain in Qatar.

"KONGSBERG is a technology power house where our goal is to make a difference for our partners through innovative solutions and technology. Qatar has a significant focus on technology, innovation and industry, and BK Systems is an important company for the development of technology and solutions within digitalization and maritime industry in Qatar. We are pleased to sign this MOU today and to continue our great cooperation with Barzan", says Geir Håøy, President and CEO of KONGSBERG.

Kongsberg Maritime (KM), has for many years delivered systems for Qatar's fleet of LNG vessels. The next step towards digitization of the world's largest fleet of LNG vessels – the Qatari fleet, includes the development and establishment of a Remote Support Center ('RSC') for future maritime clients. The RSC will support its users with the capabilities to perform: fleet performance management, initiate and ensure predictive maintenance, individual cargo and vessel analysis, transfer of vessel data to desired parties. Through the MOU signed today Barzan Holdings and KONGSBERG have agreed to work towards such establishment through BK Systems.
