New research from the specialist energy market research and consultancy firm Westwood Global Energy Group (Westwood), indicates that out of the 380GW of pre-sanctioned offshore wind capacity that is forecast to reach FID between 2024 and 2030, nearly 40% of the pipeline is considered “risked”, leaving a sizeable portion in a vulnerable position.

Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore is supporting the WATERKANT offshore wind farm in the North Sea with its technical expertise. The team from the business unit Offshore Projects was recently awarded the contract by Luxcara, a sustainable energy infrastructure asset manager, for the technical planning and coordination of the WATERKANT offshore wind farm. The wind farm will be built approximately 90 kilometers off the island of Borkum and will provide a total capacity of 270+ MW. Operations are scheduled to commence in 2028.
