TGS Enters Agreement with PURA to Provide Offshore Subsurface Data

TGS, a global leader in energy data and intelligence, has signed an agreement with Tanzania’s Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) to manage and license the country’s extensive offshore subsurface data. This collection includes 2D and 3D seismic data covering an area of over 132,000 square kilometers.

Construction of Storm-Resistant OTEC Prototype Reaches Halfway Point

Currently under construction at Hidramar Shipyard in Gran Canaria, Spain, the prototype designed to advance Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) in storm-prone areas has reached the 50% completion milestone. Fabrication began in March, and once completed, the cylindrical hull, along with a cold-water riser pipe and gimbal connection point, will be assembled in the Atlantic Ocean for testing. This structure is being developed by PLOTEC, a pan-European consortium funded by the EU, which includes seven companies.

Ocean Winds (OW), the international company dedicated to offshore wind energy and created as a 50-50 joint venture by EDP Renewables and ENGIE, and Monash University, a global, research-intensive university delivering education and research excellence in Australia and globally, have entered into an exciting new collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This declaration of intent sets the precedent for OW and Monash University to work closely together to foster job opportunities, build a sustainable supply chain through research and joint initiatives, and develop innovative ways to preserve Australia’s rich biodiversity in the context of offshore wind development.

BOEM Advances Offshore Wind Near US Territories

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking ideas for baseline environmental and socioeconomic studies to inform BOEM’s decisions on potential offshore wind energy activities in the US territories, as well as information on entities in the US territories that have the capabilities, expertise, and interest in carrying out environmental monitoring and conducting studies.
