SubCableWorld Predicts Sixth Consecutive Year of Growth

SubCableWorld (SCW) has announced the forecast of a sixth consecutive year of growth for the industry, despite a recent slowdown in Q1 of 2019.

These latest predictions, released by SubCableWorld’s team of industry experts, coincide with the launch of SubCableWorld’s new-look website. The revamped interface now features a dedicated market intelligence section, which offers ongoing analysis and insight to the international submarine cable industry.

The growing need for in-depth market intelligence is underscored by the opportunities presented by the emerging U.S. supply chain for offshore wind and the strengthening market for submarine fiber optics that reflect the growing dependency on global connectivity.

“While demand will be about 30% lower than the record-breaking total for 2018, 2019 is poised to be a very strong year for the submarine fiber optic cable systems market,” according to John Manock, SubCableWorld’s Chief Editor. "Since 2014, the industry has been in a longer and stronger boom period than it has ever experienced, with annual demand consistently above what SCW believes is the threshold for full or nearly full employment of the supply chain. 2019 will continue that stretch for a 6th year and there is cause for prolonged optimism.”

John Manock and the SubCableWorld team will be exhibiting at SubOptic 2019, the premier submarine telecoms conference, in New Orleans from April 8-11, 2019
