Shakespeare Launches Versatile Broadband Antenna at Workboat

Shakespeare Co. LLC is debuting its new 6500-WB at the International WorkBoat Show, Nov. 29-Dec.1, in New Orleans, booth 4014. Robust mounting options and superior construction make this latest addition to the company's Phase III family the broad band antenna of choice of professional mariners worldwide. Specifically engineered to perform in punishing commercial applications and environments, it's backed by an 8-year warranty.

Ideal for commercial vessels, offshore platforms or base station use, the 4' 6500-WB has a wind rating of 125 mph, is waterproof to IP67 standards, is RoHS compliant, and has an operating temperature range of -67° to 160° F. The antenna boasts a frequency range of 156-162 MHz, VSWR <1.5:1 / 145-165 MHz, VSWR <2:1, with a nominal impedance of 50ohm and an input power rating of 100 watts continuous with a 3dB gain. Its polarization pattern is vertical (omnidirectional).

The 6500-WB has a UHF female SO-239 type connector and weighs only 2.5 lbs. The high-gloss white antenna has a long-lasting and non-yellowing polyurethane finish. With its DC ground, if there's a short, it will read on a continuity test. Tuning or a ground plane isn't required.

The patent-pending stainless-steel mounting bracket installs without the weight of the antenna or needing to remove the nuts from the U-bolt—no more dropped hardware. Adaptable, it'll mount onto a mast, rail, one of Shakespeare's many mounts and brackets, or directly to a bulkhead.

Shakespeare's 6500-WB antenna with mounting system carries an MSRP of $240.
