nCentric’s Wireless Communications Solutions for Nord Stream Pipeline

Pipe laying of the 1,224 kilometer long Nord Stream Pipeline started in April 2010. Today , anno 2018, one of the pipe-laying barges is Saipem's CASTORO DIECI used for the shallow waters in Germany.

The Castoro 10 is a working ship of the greatest Italian offshore service provider Saipem and has equipment, to dig a trench in which the pipeline is laid. The Castoro Dieci is able to work in shallow and coastal waters and relies on towing and anchor winching for the travelling and manoeuvring. Its 8-point mooring system enables it to maintain accurate positioning during pipe laying.

For this application, Saipem – Next Geo Solutions Group has chosen nCentric for this critical operation with their wireless communication solutions on the Nord Stream 2 project. Together with 4 other vessels in this field, nCentric will make several video and data streams available, from and towards as well as in-between these vessels and shore.
