Fleet-Wide Implementation of Satellite Communications Hardware and Electronic Logs Software to Improve Customer Service and Operations

Boatracs, Inc. a business of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO) and a leader in providing integrated satellite communications and software solutions to the maritime industry, announces that it has completed a fleet-wide implementation for Fleet Operators, Inc., a Louisiana-based marine transportation company, to manage their vessel communications and tracking as well as logs for billing, HR and maintenance.  The solution included the Boatracs Narrowband satellite solution for communications beyond cellular range, Boatracs BTConnect™ for vessel tracking and Boatracs BTForms™ for electronic logs.

“Our experience implementing Boatracs across our fleet has been outstanding from beginning to end,” said David Barousse, BoatracsGeneral Manager at Fleet Operators, Inc.  “We evaluated a number of other maritime software solutions and decided on Boatracs because it provided a cost effective way to solve our current issues with a clear path to accommodate future growth.  Our customers in the oil and gas industry are demanding an electronic version of our vessel logs and we needed a way to maintain constant connectivity with our vessels to collect this data that was low cost, easy to use and didn't require us to maintain our own IT department.  Boatracs has done a great job in helping us solve this problem in a way that improved our process by easing our employees into a new era with plenty of upside for further advancement.”

Because Boatracs is one of the few maritime software providers that also sells satellite communications hardware, the company’s solutions are optimized for the bandwidth and cost limitations of using satellite networks.  As a result, Boatracs offers a seamless experience for customers with software that is already fully integrated with the hardware and backed by 24/7/365 live customer service that significantly accelerates the adoption of the system on board.  “We were pleasantly surprised at how fast our Captains have picked it up,” agrees Barousse.  “We were able to implement a Daily Vessel Log across our fleet of nine vessels, and almost immediately those logs started coming in just the way we want them – and more importantly, the way our customer’s want them.”

“We are honored that Fleet Operators, Inc. selected Boatracs as their fleet management partner,” stated Irwin Rodrigues, President and CEO of Boatracs.  “They are a forward thinking company who applies a practical approach to adopting technology in order to meet and exceed their customer’s needs.  That philosophy aligns perfectly with Boatracs and our mission to reduce the cost and complexity of maritime communications so that operators can implement solutions quickly and begin seeing benefits immediately.  Fleet Operators, Inc. is a standout example of how a reasonable investment in communications and software can make a company more efficient and competitive.”
