Submergence Group Completes Sea Trials and Delivery of S351 Diver Lock-Out Submersible

Submergence Group (SG) has completed construction, sea trials and delivery of it’s S351 Diver Lock-Out Submersible to the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) earlier this week.

The S351 is a prototype submersible designed and built by MSubs Ltd (a subsidiary of SG) to demonstrate the feasibility of surface‐launched diver-lockout submersibles and the use of state‐of‐the-art commercial processes in the design, construction and certification of military submersibles. The S351 project was begun in 2009/2010 with SG’s “S351 Container Submersible” white paper submitted in response to USSOCOM’s BAA for advanced marine craft. In 2012 SG received a contract to design and build the S351. The S351 was classed by Det Norske Veritas/Germanischer Lloyd (DNVGL) in fall 2015. On Monday, February 22, after completing extensive sea trials, SG formally signed over the S351 to USSOCOM.
