TE Connectivity’s DEUTSCH Wet-Mate Connectors Help Power World’s First Subsea Gas Compression Station

-- See TE’s P18-SW400 Product Range at ONS 2014 --

Members of the media are invited to visit TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, at booth #J953 at this year’s Offshore Northern Seas Conference and Exhibition (ONS 2014) to see the latest wet-mate connectors and penetrators used in the world’s first subsea gas compression station located in the Norwegian Sea.

Wet-mate connectors enable the supply of power to modular subsea boosting and gas compression systems and interconnect system components like umbilicals, transformers, rotary equipment and variable speed drives on the sea floor. TE’s DEUTSCH P18-SW400 range of connectors allows engineers to increase the tieback distance of such systems to a distance of up to 160 km from the host and in water depth up to 3,000m. This makes recovery of resources in remote locations possible and increases recovery rates of existing brown fields. The robust construction of the connectors, including a 25-year maintenance-free design, negates the need for any retrieval of the connectors, also allowing selective deployment and maintenance of subsea modules. The connectors’ unique design reduces the cost of subsea processing while increasing dependability.

At the booth, TE will also feature a variety of its newest connection systems and cabling solutions for harsh environments, featuring TE brands such as Rochester, DEUTSCH and Raychem.

In addition, TE recently announced that it has completed the acquisition of the SEACON group, a leading provider of underwater connector technology and systems. The SEACON group serves the military marine and subsea sectors for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), oil and gas, environmental and oceanographic applications. The group will become part of TE’s Industrial Solutions segment, and will be integrated into the Aerospace, Defense and Marine business unit.
