Teledyne CARIS 16th International User Group Conference, Call for Papers

CARIS 2017 will feature an in-depth technical program, which will include high caliber presentations from influential industry leaders and fellow CARIS™ users. As a valued Teledyne CARIS™ client, we encourage you to submit an abstract for presentation which highlights your accomplishments and challenges. Selected speakers will be extended a conference pass at 50% off the regular rate.

Abstracts should focus on case studies, accomplishments, and solutions relevant to CARIS users with specific emphasis on the evolution of hydrography and geomatics, the changing technology, and approaches required for future relevance and growth.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Real-Time Processing and Automation – Trends in near real-time data processing including use cases of CARIS Onboard™ in action and early findings. How has the Process Designer been put to work?
  • Chart Production – Electronic and Paper Chart production, as it relates to CARIS Hydrographic Production Database™ (HPD) and Composer applications.
  • Marine SDI – Explain the wider use of hydrographic data and its interoperability, the transition from S-57 to S-101, and other S-100 product specifications (e.g. IENC, Law of the Sea, Currents, etc.).
  • Airbourne Bathymetry – Airbourne Lidar Bathymetry collection and processing; the combination of lidar and sonar for infrastructure mapping and uses of satellite derived bathymetry are of specific interest.
  • Data Analysis – Using CARIS data as a basis for further analysis; elevation data modelling especially as it pertains to the Bathy DataBASE™ (BDB) and BASE Editor™ suite of software.
  • Data Management – Using enterprise solutions including BDB and HPD, to manage your organization’s data. How has the move to data products and data centric management changed your workflow?
  • Data Processing – Hot topics related to multibeam processing, backscatter and sidescan, water column imaging, processing extra detections, and variable resolution terrain models to be explored.
  • Ports and Waterways – The use of CARIS tools in port environments including channel maintenance and management, deformation mapping, and survey efficiencies through automation.

Important dates to note:

  • February 3, 2017 – Deadline for abstract submission
  • February 13, 2017 – Notification of acceptance
  • May 12, 2017 – Submission of final presentation

To accommodate all conference delegates, the language used at CARIS 2017 will be English. All abstracts and final presentations are to be submitted in English.

The organizing committee will assess the abstracts received, notify of its decision and invite the authors selected to present at CARIS 2017. Selected authors will be asked to present on either Wednesday June 21nd or Thursday June 22nd, during the conference session.
