Rolls-Royce Congratulates Island Offshore on the Delivery of the Offshore Vessel Island Crown

Rolls-Royce Plc congratulated the Norwegian shipowner Island Offshore on the delivery of their 34th vessel designed by Rolls-Royce.

Built at the shipyard Vard Brevik, Island Crown is the latest vessel to come from the long lasting and fruitful relationship between Island Offshore and Rolls-Royce.

Anders Almestad, Rolls-Royce, President – Offshore, said: "We are proud to be able to present our innovations together with such a forward-thinking shipowner as Island Offshore."

Island Crown is a purpose built Walk2Work Maintenance and Subsea Support Vessel. It will usually spend its time being dynamically positioned and connected to an offshore installation via a telescopic gangway - acting as a hotel for people working on the installation. Island Crown can also carry out a separate set of functions such as subsea construction and Remotely Operated Vehicle operation, and is additionally equipped to transport all the liquid and bulk supplies needed by rigs and platforms.

The christening ceremony took place at the quayside of Oslo city center on Monday June 3 at 13:00 CET, and contributed to the kick off of Nor-Shipping 2013, the leading maritime event in Oslo.
