MacArtney Steps up System Sales Capacity

Encouraged by a steadily growing global demand for complete integrated underwater technology solutions, MacArtney is launching significant efforts to strengthen its system sales capacity.

Supporting ocean science systems
At the MacArtney Group it is recognised that providing system solutions is one of the core drivers in adding value to the market for ocean science. To support this important business area, MacArtney has welcomed Dr. Ole Aarup Mikkelsen, as a new System Sales Manager, to its specialist ocean science team at the Group headquarters in Denmark.

Ole holds a Ph.D. in physical geography (2001) from the University of Copenhagen, written on the topic of suspended sediment dynamics in coastal waters. He has spent 3 years as a post doc at the Department of Oceanography, Dalhousie University and Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Halifax, Canada. Here, his work has focused on the development and deployment of an instrumented tripod - INSSECT - for sediment transport studies in the Adriatic Sea and the Nova Scotia Shelf. After finishing his post doc, Ole took a position as research officer at Bangor University, Wales, UK, where he continued his work on sediment dynamics. During his scientific career, Ole has spent more than half a year at sea onboard research vessels, published almost two dozen peer-reviewed scientific papers in scientific journals and presented his research at numerous conferences around the world.

In 2007, Ole was recruited to a position as Sales and Marketing Manager and, as per 2011, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, with the Seattle-based LISST manufacturer Sequoia Scientific. Beyond heading key sales and marketing efforts, Ole was also the main responsible for customer and distributor training, as well as developing the Sequoia international distributor network, which grew from ~25 to 70+ countries during his six-year tenure. His well-documented scientific expertise coupled with his extensive commercial experience puts him in a unique position to quickly understand, support and advise MacArtney ocean science customers as well as MacArtney operations.

According to MacArtney Sales Manager of Ocean Science, Hans Jorgen Hansen: "Ole marks a welcome and valuable addition to the MacArtney Group and empowered by his experience and expertise, we all look forward to providing even better service and support to our ocean science customers in the future."
