DONG Energy Concludes Another Framework Agreement for Offshore Array Cables with Nexans

Potential delivery of up to 1,750 kilometres of array cables agreed for offshore wind farm projects

DONG Energy in Denmark and Nexans signed on July 1, 2014 a new framework agreement for the delivery of up to 1,750 kilometres of submarine cables for wind farms off the British coast. The cables will be used for connecting turbines to each other and to the offshore transformer platforms. The framework agreement runs until the end of 2020 and can be extended by two years. The Danish energy company also has the option of expanding the scope of services to include the delivery and installation of cable accessories.

DONG Energy has already equipped a number of large-scale wind farms with Nexans cables, including among others West of Duddon Sands and Westermost Rough in the UK and Borkum Riffgrund and Gode Wind 1-2 in Germany.

“Our ongoing business relationship with DONG Energy is a testimony to our expertise in the area of offshore cables”, said Christof Barklage, CEO of Nexans Deutschland, at the signing of the contract. “Concluding an agreement of this magnitude also provides a solid basis for the growth of our offshore cable business here in our Hanover plant”, he added, stressing the significance of this contract for the site.
